Description
ReefRun G2 DC 4000 Pump
Silent. Powerful. Smart.
The Red Sea ReefRun G2 4000 DC Pump is part of Red Sea’s next-generation ReefRun G2 series, developed as an improvement over the original ReefRun DC pumps. This new series is engineered for higher efficiency, quieter performance, and enhanced controllability, making it a reliable choice for both reef and saltwater aquarium systems. The 4000 model is designed to suit small- to medium-sized tanks, where it can function effectively as a return pump or provide consistent water circulation.
The version sold without a controller offers all the core performance capabilities of the G2 line but omits the external ReefRun controller, which can be purchased separately. Even without the external unit, the pump maintains an integrated control interface for basic on/off and flow adjustments. When connected to the ReefRun Dual Controller, it becomes fully compatible with Red Sea’s ReefBeat ecosystem, enabling advanced control, automation, and monitoring features.
Overall, the ReefRun G2 4000 represents a balance between quiet, energy-efficient operation and expandability, allowing aquarists to start with a dependable standalone pump and later integrate it into a smart, app-controlled system if desired.

Efficient. Quiet. Smart.
As part of the Red Sea ReefBeat App ecosystem, they benefit from smart features like automated daily schedules with adjustable intensities, a pulse mode for closed-loop wave installations, and notifications if the pump is running dry or blocked.

Flow Controller
The controller allows you to manually turn the pump ON and OFF and adjust its intensity without an internet connection, enabling you to use the pump either independently or as part of the ReefBeat App ecosystem (via the ReefRun Dual Controller).

Silent
The pumps’ advanced Sine wave DC motor technology ensures virtually silent operation from the very start, even when running at 100%.

Energy-efficient.

Matching to your system: The pump’s adjustable flow (530–1060 GPH / ~2000–4000 L/h) gives you leeway to size it for your system’s return plumbing and head loss (pipe friction, fittings, height).
Head vs flow trade-off: As the vertical lift (or plumbing resistance) increases, achievable flow will drop. So in a tall sump setup or long run, you’ll need to consider that the pump may not hit its max flow.
Power & efficiency: At lower flow settings, you’ll benefit from lower wattage draw (16–38 W) which helps with running cost over time.
Noise: The design emphasizes quiet operation. In most well-setup systems, it should run nearly silently.
Redundancy & backup: Because there’s built-in local control, even if your external controller or network fails, the pump can still operate (in basic mode).
Future expansion: If later you want to incorporate full scheduling and remote control, you can add the ReefRun Dual Controller and integrate into ReefBeat.
Maintenance: Regular cleaning of rotor, impeller, and checking for clogging will preserve performance. Ensuring the inlet is not drawing air or partial vapor is important (especially if water levels fluctuate).

The Red Sea ReefRun G2 4000 DC Pump delivers an adjustable flow rate ranging from approximately 530 to 1060 US gallons per hour (about 2000 to 4000 liters per hour), making it suitable for small to medium reef systems. It has a maximum head height of about 11.2 feet (3.4 meters), which defines its ability to push water vertically through return plumbing.
Power consumption varies depending on the selected flow rate, typically operating between 16 and 38 watts. The pump is powered by a 24-volt DC motor that uses smooth, sinusoidal technology to ensure quiet and efficient performance.
In terms of size, the pump measures roughly 6.9 inches in length, 4.3 inches in width, and 5.1 inches in height, with a 10-foot (3 meter) power cable for flexible placement.
The outlet fittings are versatile, including adapters for both PVC and flexible hose connections (¾″ PVC adapter, hose barbs for ⅝″ and 1″ tubing, and a ¾″ male threaded GAS fitting). The outlet can rotate 180 degrees for easier plumbing alignment, while an inlet flow guide helps prevent air intake from the surface.
Additional built-in features include soft-start operation, which allows the pump to ramp up gradually after power interruptions, and an integrated flow controller for basic manual adjustments even when used without an external controller.
