ATO Osmolator Nano 3151 – Tunze
The Tunze Osmolator 3 Nano 3151 is an auto top-off / water-level controller designed for nano aquariums. Its role is to maintain a stable water level by automatically adding water to compensate for evaporation. Keeping water level constant is important in marine and reef tanks to maintain salinity stability.
It is marketed for aquarium systems up to about 250 liters (≈ 66 US gallons). Because it’s a “nano” model, it's more compact and suited for smaller setups where space is limited.

Things to Watch Out For ATO Osmolator Nano 3151:

Installation Tips
Mounting Sensor: Use the magnetic holder on the aquarium glass, ensuring good contact and minimal gaps. Clean the glass area before placing the sensor to avoid air gaps or false readings.
Positioning: Place the sensor in a location with minimal disturbance (away from pumps, splashing, bubbles) and ideally sheltered from direct lighting or algal film buildup.
Tubing / Hose Layout: Route the tubing so it avoids kinks, loops, or sharp bends. Use the tube holder provided (fits up to 22 mm) to secure the outlet.
Pump Maintenance: Periodically check and clean the pump, removing any debris or blockages. Because it’s a small unit, disassembly is relatively straightforward.
Sensor Cleaning: Clean the sensor surface from biofilm or deposits to maintain accuracy. Use soft cloth / swabs and avoid scratching the optical surface.
Check Safety Timer Settings: Ensure the maximum dosing duration is appropriate for your system—long enough to supply needed water, but not so long that a sensor error could cause overfill.
Backup / Monitoring: Even though the system has built-in safeties, it’s wise to periodically monitor water levels (e.g. visual checks) especially during the first days of use.
Alternate Reservoir / Water Supply: Make sure your reservoir is stable, clean, and sufficient for your evaporation rate. Use water matched in parameters (e.g. RO/DI or similar salinity) so added water doesn’t disturb your chemistry.
