Ammonia is a byproduct of the nitrogen cycle. It is typically removed through nitrification carried out by bacteria, but its levels can rise if there is an imbalance in the tank’s water chemistry. Excess ammonia in marine aquariums increases the risk of disease or death for the species living in the environment.

The HI784 Marine Ammonia Checker is a portable colorimeter that uses the Lambert-Beer principle for the colorimetric determination of ammonia concentration. The HI784 is specifically designed for measuring ammonia levels in saltwater aquariums. Its measurement range is 0.00 to 2.500 ppm, making it ideal for maintaining reef aquariums, coral and fish tanks, or fish-only systems.

  • Ideal for saltwater aquariums

  • Easier and more accurate than chemical test kits

  • Small, convenient size
