UV Sterilizers - Deltec
Using ultraviolet C (UV-C) radiation is the most effective way to sterilize water. There are no chemicals involved and no risk of dangerous overdoses. Plus, you don't have to wait long periods for it to take effect, as sterilization is instantaneous!
The energy generated by highly concentrated UV-C radiation has a lethal effect on some microorganisms. It alters their genetic material (DNA) and inhibits their ability to reproduce. The germicidal properties of UV-C radiation are therefore extremely beneficial for destroying bacteria, viruses, protozoa, algae, and mold spores.
Different types of pathogens or bacteria require different levels of radiation to kill or prevent them from functioning and multiplying.
DELTEC sterilizers are designed to produce a radiation intensity of 33,000 microwatts/sec, which is sufficient to destroy most common pathogens in freshwater and saltwater aquariums; however, if required, the intensity can be increased by decreasing the flow rate through the unit.
Deltec's T5 UV units are designed for use in aquariums. They are compact and more effective than conventional UV units because the T5 and protective tube are made of quartz.
The electronic ballast and T5 ensure high radiation, efficiency and long life, up to 9000 hours.

39 W. for aquariums up to 2,000 L. Equivalent to a conventional 80W UV. Dimensions: 920 mm x 100 mm x 140 mm.
Recommended for:
- Coral tank: (1-2 times of complete filtration per hour): 1000 to 2000 liters.
- Fish tank – (2-4 times of complete filtration per hour): 500 to 1000 liters
80 W. for aquariums up to 3,600 L. Equivalent to a conventional 160W UV.
What do we mean by "conventional"? Because of the loss of transmission.
Transmission loss:
Many people know that quartz is 96-98% transparent to UV-C rays, and that ordinary glass reduces UV transmission by approximately 50%. This is why DELTEC sterilizers have a quartz separation sleeve between the water and the bulb. What many people don't know is that conventional UV sterilizers produce UV radiation in a conventional glass tube, so half of the intensity is lost before it even leaves the tube.
DD Professional UV sterilizers feature a pure quartz bulb and quartz sleeve, utilizing 98% of the UV-C produced. In fact, DD Professional models produce approximately twice as much UV-C per watt as a conventional unit with a glass bulb. This makes the units much more compact and easier to install in many aquarium cabinets.
Characteristics:
- High-intensity, extra-flat quartz bulb with ceramic cap for good thermal insulation.
- 9000 hour lamp life for continuous use.
- Electronic ballast for flicker-free operation, doubling the bulb's lifespan.
- The pure quartz sleeve prevents thermal shock and keeps the lamp at the correct temperature for maximum UV-C output regardless of water temperature.
- The UV-resistant reinforced plastic body prevents degradation over time.
- Single-ended design and waterproof insulation according to CE IP67.
- LED indicator for lamp and ballast function.
- Allows partial immersion of the body in a sink, thus reducing the space required for installation.
- Viton gasket for long-term UV-resistant sealing.
- They can be easily connected together to form banks of UV units with standard plumbing.
