Red Sea ReefMat Review – The best automatic filter so far

Review: Red Sea ReefMat – Automatic Roller Filter
Red Sea ReefMat is available in three versions:
- ReefMat 250 Roller Filter
- ReefMat 500 Roller Filter
- ReefMat 1200 Roller Filter
We are supporters of automatic filter rolls both as new equipment and as a groundbreaking tool for aquarium filtration, and without a doubt, RED SEA has nailed it with ReefMat.
We have already presented to you 10 things we already love about it in the form of an article where we discuss many of these points in more detail, about both models, ReefMat 500 and 1200, with automatic filtration for existing reef aquariums. Before we dive into our experience with the ReefMat models, we must mention that RED SEA has really thought about the user experience when installing this new device on a wide range of RED SEA aquariums, and their aquarium modification kit includes a tool that is essential for separating the glass panels that have been siliconed together.
In addition to the easily visible hardware features we covered earlier, the two major differences between the Red Sea ReefMat and all the others are that it is the first "smart" device of its kind and, perhaps most importantly, it is undeniably advanced. Until now, all other automatic filter rolls have been basic analog machines, but the smart features of the ReefMat can inform users about many important details regarding how the equipment is functioning.
When connected to the ReefBeat app, ReefMat can alert users to any potential blockages in the fleece material, can record and monitor filter usage, and most importantly, can notify you when you will need to use the current roll, so you can stock up before running out! An especially useful feature that might be overlooked is a setting in the ReefBeat app that allows users to set the mat’s advance length – when the level sensor is triggered, ReefMat will default to advancing about an inch, but you can reduce this length to just a quarter inch or increase it to the full wet length to encourage more nutrient export.
But, as a long-time user of many different models of automatic filter rolls, the very large size of the ReefMat is part of what makes it such a great mechanical filtration tool in the first place. While others have tried to make filter rolls as small and discreet as possible to fit a wide range of tanks, Red Sea has removed these compromises by making ReefMat as large as it needs to be for efficient filtration of the water passing through it.
Conclusion:
The ReefMat from Red Sea stands out with intelligent automatic filtration, integration with the ReefBeat app, and a design optimized for easy maintenance. Unlike other models, it offers advanced monitoring and the ability to adjust fleece usage, ensuring efficient filtration and maximum convenience for users.
