Description
What Is ReefControl Pro?
The ReefControl Pro is a central controller / automation hub made by Red Sea.
Designed for reef aquariums, especially for aquarists who want precise, automated, and connected control over multiple systems (monitoring sensors + devices).
It is part of Red Sea’s ReefControl ecosystem, which includes compatible digital probes/sensors (ReefSense) and other control modules.
Capabilities of ReefControl Pro
Multiple Sensor / Probe Inputs
Supports up to 7 digital sensors or probes from the ReefSense line.
These sensors can be for pH, temperature, salinity, ORP, water level (e.g. ATO), leak detection, etc.
The system uses a digital interface so any ReefSense probe can connect to any port — there is no need to match specific ports.
New sensor types introduced in future can be added without replacing the controller, thanks to its modular design.
Built-In pH / Temperature Probe
The Pro unit ships with a combined temperature-compensated pH / temperature probe.
This allows real-time monitoring of two of the most critical water parameters in a reef tank.
Device Control (DC and AC)
Has 2 outputs for 12 V DC devices.
Can control AC-powered equipment (e.g. heater, chiller, ozonizer) when integrated with the ReefControl Power module.
Automation rules can be created: e.g., if a sensor reads above/below a threshold, it triggers a connected device (pump, light, etc.).
Data Logging & Alerts
Continuously logs sensor data; you can review historical trends.
You can define acceptable ranges (“alarm thresholds”) for each sensor. If readings go outside those, the system can send you a notification.
After a power outage, ReefControl Pro can resume control automatically, helping to maintain stability.
Integration with ReefBeat App
Controlled through ReefBeat, Red Sea’s smartphone/tablet app (iOS and Android).
Via the app, you can:
Create custom control “scenarios” (rules).
Schedule devices (on/off, or behavior based on sensor readings).
View real-time parameters and history.
Expandable Automation
You can connect a ReefControl ATO module: its digital ATO sensor + DC pump plug straight into the Pro, making a full automatic top-off system.
You can also integrate a ReefControl Power unit, which lets you bring non-Red Sea devices into the ReefBeat ecosystem for monitoring and automated control.
Probe Calibration Persistence
The probes (sensors) store their own calibration data. So, if you remove a probe (for cleaning or recalibration), the controller “remembers” its calibration when reconnected.
This makes it easier to maintain accuracy over time.
Remote Bluetooth Functionality
ReefSense probes can communicate with the ReefBeat app over Bluetooth.
This is especially useful if you’re calibrating or cleaning probes outside the aquarium (e.g., at a sink) — you don’t have to crawl under the sump to do it.
Probes can be powered remotely (via USB-C), which is handy for portability.

Where It’s Useful to use ReefControl Pro
High-end reef tanks — for reefers who want tight, automated control over water parameters.
Multi-parameter monitoring — if you want to track more than just pH/Temp (e.g., salinity, ORP, water level).
Advanced automation — connecting pumps, ATO, or other devices to respond automatically to sensor readings.
Data-driven care — logging trends helps you see how your tank parameters change over time, which is valuable for diagnosing issues or optimizing dosing.
Scalable setups — you can start with the Pro and add more modules (ATO, power) later, as your system grows or you want more automation.
Strengths of ReefControl Pro
Flexibility: Supports a wide variety of probes and sensors.
Scalability: Can grow with your system; future expansion is easy.
Automation: Great for rule-based control (e.g., turn on a fan or pump if temp / pH moves out of range).
Precision: Digital probes + logging give very accurate, real-time readings.
Convenience: Bluetooth + ReefBeat app make calibration and monitoring easier.
Redundancy / Safety: With alerts and data logging, you can catch issues (like parameter drift) early.

Considerations
Cost: High-end controller — not cheap, especially when adding sensors or modules.
Complexity: For beginners, setting up multiple sensors and automation rules could be overwhelming.
Power Needs: Requires 12 V DC devices for direct control; AC control requires the ReefControl Power module (additional cost).
Probe Maintenance: Digital probes need calibration and maintenance over time (as with all pH / ORP probes).
Dependency on App: Because much of the control and monitoring happens via the ReefBeat app, you’re dependent on its stability, updates, and compatibility.
Summary
The Red Sea ReefControl Pro is a professional-grade, all-in-one controller for reef aquariums.
It's designed to centralize monitoring (via up to 7 digital probes) and automate devices (pumps, ATO, heaters, etc.).
With integration into the ReefBeat mobile app, you can set up rules, get alerts, track data over time, and expand your system later.
It’s especially valuable for serious reef keepers who want tight control and a scalable, future-proof automation system.
