Description
What Is the ReefControl Power 6 Deluxe?
The ReefControl Power 6 Deluxe is an “intelligent power center” from Red Sea. It’s part of their ReefControl / ReefBeat ecosystem, designed to give aquarists smart control over their AC-powered devices in a reef setup.
In essence: it’s not just a power strip — it’s a controller + power meter + automation tool.
Capabilities of ReefControl Power 6 Deluxe
Six Individually Controlled Outlets
The unit has 6 AC outlets, each one is independently controllable.
Each outlet can be scheduled, set to run on a “scenario” (automation), or linked to a sensor.
Real-Time Power Monitoring
The Power 6 Deluxe measures power consumption per outlet, giving you live data on how much energy each device is using.
Helps you optimize energy usage, detect problems (e.g., abnormal draw), and potentially improve safety.
Integration with ReefBeat & ReefSense
Works with the ReefBeat app (Red Sea’s control/automation platform) to control sockets, create automation rules, set schedules, etc.
Can respond to sensor input: for example, if a ReefSense probe detects a leak, high temperature, or other anomaly, Power 6 can shut off one or more outlets.
It can even operate in a more limited “autonomous” way if paired just with a temperature sensor: e.g., control a heater or cooling fan based on temp.
Deluxe Control Panel
The “Deluxe” version includes a physical control panel with backlit ON/OFF pushbuttons for each outlet, plus a master on/off button.
The backlit switches make it very easy to see the status of each socket, even in dim light or with wet hands — which is super handy in sump cabinets.
The panel can be mounted next to other aquarium controllers (like in a control cabinet).
Safety & Emergency Routines
Because it’s integrated with ReefBeat and sensors, you can program “emergency routines”: for example, cut power to certain devices when a leak is detected.
There is also overload protection (or at least built-in design consideration for power safety) per channel.
Robust Design for Aquarium Use
Built to be used in marine / reef setups — corrosion-resistant housing appropriate for wet / humid environment.
The control panel’s design (with its backlit buttons) is explicitly made to be safe and usable in a potentially damp cabinet.
Connectivity & Technical Specs
Connects via Wi-Fi through the ReefBeat ecosystem.
According to Red Sea, the Power 6 (EU version) is rated for up to 3,680 W total.

Use Cases of ReefControl Power 6 Deluxe
Full Automation of AC Equipment: Use it to control devices like chillers, heaters, lights, skimmers, dosing systems, and more – all from ReefBeat.
Safety Automation: Trigger power shutdowns when a leak or temperature anomaly is detected.
Scheduled On/Off Cycles: Run daily routines (e.g., lights, pumps) on schedules without manual intervention.
Energy Monitoring: Keep an eye on which devices draw the most power — good for diagnosing inefficiency or aging gear.
Maintenance Use: With the physical panel, you can manually power things on/off when working in the sump without relying solely on the app.
Standalone Use: Even without a full ReefControl controller, you can pair with a ReefSense temp probe to manage critical devices like a heater or fan.
Strengths of ReefControl Power 6 Deluxe
Highly Flexible: Six controllable outlets + strong automation capabilities.
Good Visibility & Control: Backlit manual panel gives a clear, physical way to manage devices.
Energy Insight: Real-time monitoring helps you optimize and troubleshoot.
Safety Integration: Can act on sensor alerts to protect your tank and equipment.
Ecosystem Integration: Works smoothly with ReefBeat, and other Red Sea systems / sensors.
Robust Build: Designed for use in saltwater / humid environments.
Considerations of ReefControl Power 6 Deluxe
Cost: More expensive than a standard power strip, particularly the Deluxe version.
Complexity: Full automation requires setting up scenarios, schedules, and sensor triggers — can be overkill for simpler tanks.
Wi-Fi Reliance: For remote control and automation you'd need good network connectivity.
Power Planning: Even with 3,680 W, you need to carefully plan devices to avoid overloading.
Installation: Requires space in your sump or cabinet, and the control panel needs mounting.
Panel Dependency: The Deluxe panel is great, but if it fails (or is disconnected) you may lose the “manual switch” functionality — though the app remains.
Summary
ReefControl Power 6 Deluxe is Red Sea’s premium smart power strip + controller for reef aquariums.
It gives you six AC outlets, each fully automate-able, plus real-time power monitoring per socket.
The Deluxe version adds a backlit physical control panel so you can manually switch outlets and see their status — very useful during maintenance.
Through ReefBeat, you can make advanced automation rules, schedule devices, trigger emergency shutdowns, and more.
It’s ideal for hobbyists who want safety, automation, and insight into their power usage in a reef system.
