ReefRun G2 DC12000 Pump

Silent. Powerful. Smart.

The ReefRun G2 12000 DC Pump is the top-tier model in Red Sea’s second-generation ReefRun series, designed for large reef and marine aquarium systems that demand strong return flow and robust performance. This pump is built to deliver very high capacity while maintaining quiet, efficient operation. The version sold without a controller still includes the integrated flow controller for local operation (on/off and manual flow adjustments). If later paired with the ReefRun Dual Controller, it can be fully integrated into Red Sea’s ReefBeat ecosystem, unlocking advanced scheduling, alerts, automation, and precise control across modes like feed, maintenance, and emergency. The 12000 model is ideal for setups where maximum flow and head are needed, yet the system may still benefit from flexibility and expandability.

Efficient. Quiet. Smart.

The powerful ReefRun G2 models range from 4,000 LPH to an impressive 12,000 LPH.
As part of the Red Sea ReefBeat App ecosystem, they benefit from smart features like automated daily schedules with adjustable intensities, a pulse mode for closed-loop wave installations, and notifications if the pump is running dry or blocked.

Flow Controller

The controller allows you to manually turn the pump ON and OFF and adjust its intensity without an internet connection, enabling you to use the pump either independently or as part of the ReefBeat App ecosystem (via the ReefRun Dual Controller).

Dimensions

The ReefRun G2 12000 offers an adjustable flow rate of approximately 1300 to 3200 US gallons per hour (GPH), which translates to about 5000 to 12,000 liters per hour under ideal (low resistance) plumbing conditions.

Its maximum head (vertical lift capability) is about 19 feet (≈ 5.9 meters), meaning it can maintain flow across substantial plumbing height or restrictive runs.

In terms of power consumption, it typically draws between 33 and 105 watts, depending on the flow setting and back pressure from plumbing.

The pump is designed with an integrated flow controller for standalone use, and uses the same smooth DC (sine-wave) motor technology found across the G2 line to reduce noise and increase efficiency.

According to one listing, the approximate physical dimensions are 9.3 in (length) × 5.3 in (width) × 6.0 in (height), and it includes a 10-foot (≈ 3 m) power cable.

Plumbing-wise, the pump supports PVC adapters of 1″ and 1¼″, hose barb fittings of 1″ / 1¼″, and a male-threaded 1″ gas connection.

The outlet can rotate through 180°, and the pump has an inlet flow guide intended to reduce surface air draw (bubbling) especially in less-than-ideal intake conditions. Soft-start behavior is also expected (gradual ramp-up) to protect plumbing and prevent shock surges.

Silent

The pumps’ advanced Sine wave DC motor technology ensures virtually silent operation from the very start, even when running at 100%.

Energy-efficient.

The ReefRun G2 12000 is best suited for large aquarium systems requiring powerful return flow — for example, systems with large volume, long plumbing runs, high head requirements, or setups intended for heavy coral or flow-demanding livestock. Because of its high head capacity (nearly 6 m), it is capable of pushing water through tall setups or through plumbing with many bends and restrictions while still achieving meaningful flow.

Even though it's a high-capacity pump, when operated at lower flow settings it can be relatively efficient, helping to mitigate energy costs in continuous operation. Its design emphasizes quiet performance, which helps when the pump must be placed in living spaces or near quiet zones.

The rotatable outlet and broad plumbing fitting compatibility make it easier to adapt this pump into either metric or imperial plumbing systems. The inlet flow guide is particularly useful to prevent air being drawn into the pump when water level fluctuates or there is surface turbulence.

Because this version comes without an external controller, you can start using it immediately with manual control via its built-in flow control. Later, you can expand by adding the ReefRun Dual Controller and connecting it to ReefBeat for full automation, including scheduled flow changes, feed/maintenance modes, and alerts (e.g., if the pump stops, runs dry, or is blocked).

Maintenance is important: regularly cleaning the impeller, rotor, and checking for debris or salt buildup will preserve performance and efficiency. Also, in larger systems, consider redundancy or backup planning, because losing the return pump briefly can stress your livestock.

In summary, the ReefRun G2 12000 DC Pump (w/o controller) offers a high-performance, flexible, and upgradeable solution for large reef systems that demand strong, controllable return flow with the possibility to scale into a smart, app-driven system over time.
