The NanoMat is a compact, plug-and-play automatic fleece roller filter made by Red Sea, intended especially for smaller reef or nano systems. It replaces the usual filter socks or pads by continuously advancing a clean section of fleece when the current portion becomes clogged.
The NanoMat Fleece-Roll (2-pack) is simply a replacement supply: two rolls of the fleece material that the NanoMat uses. When one roll is exhausted, you swap it in to keep the filtration continuous.
Specifications of the NanoMat Fleece-Roll
These fleece rolls are non-woven polyester fleece, designed for high flow and skimmer-friendly filtration.
Each roll is 2.2 inches (≈ 5.5 cm) wide (the width of the fleece strip)
The length per roll is 59 feet (≈ 18 meters)
They are tailored to fit NanoMat automatic fleece filters specifically — they slide into the mechanism and are advanced by the motorized unit.
As a 2-pack, you receive two of these rolls, enough to keep the NanoMat running for a longer stretch without having to reorder immediately
Usage of NanoMat Fleece-Roll (2 in pack) by Red Sea
In the NanoMat system, water flows through the fleece roll, capturing fine particulate matter, uneaten food, detritus, and other suspended solids. As the fleece becomes clogged, water pressure or a rise in water level triggers a sensor, and the motor advances the roll to reveal a new, clean section.
Because each roll is 59 ft long, it can last weeks (commonly ~4 weeks in moderate systems) before needing replacement, though the exact lifespan depends on bio-load, feeding, tank size, and flow.
Using a 2-pack means you can replace one roll and keep a spare ready, avoiding downtime.
Compatibility
These fleece rolls are made specifically for the NanoMat system. They may not be interchangeable with larger systems (e.g. ReefMat) without checking size and mechanical compatibility.
The NanoMat (and by extension these rolls) are typically rated for systems up to 200 L (≈ 53 gallons) under recommended flow conditions.

If flow or bio-load is too high, the fleece will clog faster, requiring more frequent roll advancement or shorter roll life.
