Osmosis Easy Line Professional 50 GPD
Osmosis Easy Line Professional 50 GPD by Aqua Medic
The Easy Line Professional 50 GPD from Aqua Medic is a compact, powerful reverse osmosis (RO) unit intended for producing softened, low-salt (desalinated) water. It’s designed for applications such as marine and freshwater aquaria, terrarium spraying/misting, and other situations where high-quality water (low dissolved solids / low contaminants) is needed.
With a nominal output of 50 gallons per day (GPD), the unit under standard ideal conditions produces about 190 litres/day of RO water.
Here are the important parts and what the system includes:
Pre-filtration stages:
• Sediment filter that captures particles larger than ~ 5 µm.
• Activated carbon prefilter to remove chlorine and organic compounds that could damage the RO membrane.Membrane module:
• The heart of the system: a TFC (thin-film composite) membrane made of polyamide / polysulfone.
• Accompanied by a flow-restrictor and pressure piping.Water yield and rejection:
• Salt / TDS rejection of up to ~ 98% under ideal conditions.
• Recovery ratio or “waste:pure water” of about 3-4:1 (i.e. for every part of clean water, 3-4 parts are reject/waste).Convenience / plumbing features:
• A pressure switch that allows the system to automatically fill a pressure tank (tank not included). This helps have treated water ready more quickly.
• A mounting plate so the unit can be wall-mounted or simply placed on a flat surface.
• An integrated pressure gauge (manometer) to monitor feed water / system pressure.
• A chrome-plated tap extension, so you can choose between osmosed (filtered) water and tap water via a diverter at the tap. The extension can remain permanently connected.
• Universal faucet adapter included (for tool-free connection to most domestic faucets). Suitable for mixing nozzles / aerators with 22 mm internal thread or 24 mm external thread.Physical build / size:
• Compact footprint: approximately 370 × 160 × 160 mm (Length × Width × Height).
• The unit is relatively lightweight, meant for under-sink or concealed installation but with easy access for filter changes.Spare parts & options:
• Membrane specific for 50 GPD model: U711.050.
• Prefilters: sediment 5 µm, activated carbon prefilter with fittings.
• Flow restrictor tailored for the 50 GPD model (ensures the correct waste/pure ratio).
Practical Use
What you can expect under real conditions, and what affects performance:
Output depends heavily on feed water temperature, feed water pressure, and how clean the input water is. In lower temperature or low pressure situations, the daily output will drop.
Waste water is significant because of the 3-4:1 ratio; you'll need to account for that in your water usage. Some waste can sometimes be reused for non-sensitive applications or gardening if safe.
Prefilter maintenance is very important. If the sediment or carbon filter is clogged or exhausted, membrane life and rejection will suffer.
Regularly check the pressure gauge: drop in pressure may indicate clogged prefilters or other issues.
The membrane itself is a consumable and will need replacement after some period, depending on water quality, usage, etc.
This model is especially suitable for:
Medium-sized aquariums (saltwater or freshwater) that require fairly frequent water changes.
Terrariums, misting or spraying systems where water purity matters (less minerals, fewer contaminants).
Households wanting RO water for mixed uses (aquaria, maybe for ironing / certain appliances), but without needing huge output.
Situations where space is limited — its compact design helps install under sinks, inside cabinets, etc.
Things to Consider when using the Osmosis Easy Line Professional 50 GPD
If your feed water has high hardness, very high TDS, or large amounts of contaminants, the prefilters will need more frequent replacement, and membrane life may be shorter.
In cold weather or with low feed pressure, you’ll likely see output drop significantly below the nominal 190 L/day.
The 3-4:1 waste ratio means quite a bit of reject water — not ideal if you are trying to minimize water usage or cost.
Some parts are consumables and replacement cost should be budgeted: membrane, prefilters, possibly carbon block, etc.
