Description
What It Is the ReefSense Single Probe Holder by Red Sea?
The ReefSense Single Probe Holder is a mounting accessory from Red Sea, designed specifically for their ReefSense digital probe ecosystem.
Purpose: to securely mount one probe (e.g., pH, ORP, temperature, or salinity) in a stable, clean way.
Key Features of ReefSense Single Probe Holder
Adjustable Height
The holder has an adjustable structure so you can set the probe at the ideal depth.
This helps ensure that the probe tip stays fully submerged in water (but not too deep) to get stable, representative readings.
Probe Compatibility
Compatible with “standard” probe diameters: supports both 12 mm and 18 mm diameter probes.
Designed for digital ReefSense probes (pH, salinity/temp, ORP, etc.) but can also support many other 12–13 mm probes.
Mounting Method
The holder clips on glass (i.e., mounts to the aquarium or sump wall) for glass thicknesses from 4 mm to 12 mm.
So it’s a non-invasive mount — no drilling required.
Materials & Durability
Made from engineering plastic that is resistant to seawater / saltwater, making it durable for reef setups.
Designed to hold the probe firmly so that it doesn’t move or bump, reducing risk of damage.
Use Cases of ReefSense Single Probe Holder
Stable & Accurate Measurements: Keeping a probe fixed in a stable position helps avoid erratic readings caused by turbulence, bubbles, or movement.
Clean & Organized Setup: Helps minimize clutter in your sump or tank, by giving each probe a dedicated holder.
Protection for Sensor: The probe is less likely to be knocked around or accidentally damaged if it’s held securely.
Ideal for Smaller Setups: Particularly useful if you’re only using one or two probes (for example, with a ReefControl Lite), or when you need to isolate a probe (e.g. for salinity) in a particular area.
Things to Be Careful About when using ReefSense Single Probe Holder
Single Slot Only: It only holds one probe, so if you have multiple probes (pH, ORP, salinity, etc.), you’d need more than one holder or a multi-probe holder.
Glass Thickness Constraints: Only works with glass 4–12 mm thick. If your tank / sump glass is outside that range, it may not mount securely.
Requires Good Flow Placement: For best results, you should put the probe (and thus the holder) in a part of the sump or tank where there’s consistent water flow — stagnant zones can give less reliable readings.
Maintenance: Over time, salt creep, biofilm, or limescale could build up on the holder, so you’ll need to rinse / clean it periodically for best performance.
Summary
The ReefSense Single Probe Holder is a simple but very useful accessory for mounting one ReefSense (or similar-size) probe cleanly and securely.
It supports 12 mm and 18 mm probes, clips to glass (4–12 mm), and uses durable, saltwater-safe materials.
Helps ensure stable readings, protects the probe, and tidies up your setup — especially helpful for users with fewer probes or for isolated probe placement.
