Description
Aquarium Chiller Teco TK 1000
Teco TK-1000 Chiller
The Teco TK-1000 is part of Teco’s “TANK” line of SeaChill-derived aquarium chillers. It is designed for aquariums (or comparable water-systems) in the 60 to 200 gallon range (≈ 230-760 litres) and aims to combine high efficiency, modern refrigerant technology, precision control, and durability. The unit is well suited for both freshwater and saltwater systems, especially where steady temperature control is important.
Efficient Cooling Technology
The exclusive use of high-quality and internationally accepted and of the titanium heat exchanger, ensures high performance and low energy consumption. The set of technologies used allow you to achieve the highest COP - coefficient of performance and the lowest noise levels.Digital Thermostat
The setting of functions is intuitive and the temperature reading is accurate, resolution 0.1°C/1°F. The setting range is 5°C - 30°C (41°F - 86°F) and the temperature is kept constant with a maximum differential of 0.5°C/0.5°F. Displayed temperature is in °C or °F and there are security alarms.Efficient Design
The chiller, with its innovative design, is characterized by a solid structure designed to guarantee a perfect protection against rust. The user will appreciate the functionality of the shape and the compact size also adaptable to confined spaces.Unique Features
Innovative TECOair system: a system that, thanks to the conveyor rotation, assure to the chiller an optimal air exchange and heat expulsion from the cabinet; Magnetic filter for quick maintenance; R290 environmentally friendly gas that reduce power consumption with increased performance and COP; Designed for TECOnnect Wi-Fi.Optional: it is possible to request the unit with the resistance.

Advantages of using Teco TK-1000 Chiller
Efficiency and modern refrigeration: R290 refrigerant allows reduced energy consumption vs older models/refrigerants. More eco-friendly.
Durability: Titanium heat exchanger resists corrosion, making it more suited for saltwater or mixed systems.
Good control & temperature range: Broad setpoint range, precise control, stable differential. Useful for sensitive fish, corals, or plants.
Compact footprint: The dimensions and weight are reasonably moderate for its capacity; rotatable plumbing fittings help with flexible installation.
Optional remote monitoring (WiFi): Adds convenience—allowing you to check and adjust settings from a phone if desired.
Things to Consider
Power consumption is not negligible — at 315 W, over many hours of continuous operation this adds up in electricity cost. You’ll want to ensure adequate cooling demands vs ambient conditions so it doesn’t have to run continuously.
Performance depends heavily on flow rate: If the flow through the chiller is too low (pump too weak or plumbing restrictive), cooling will be less effective. Conversely, very high flows may reduce temperature drop per volume. Correct pump selection is important.
Ambient temperature & heat sources (lights, sun, room temperature) will influence how hard the unit must work. If ambient is warm or there are strong heat loads, the chiller will have to run more, possibly reducing lifespan or increasing maintenance.
No built-in heater in standard model: if you need both heating and cooling (e.g. cold nights or seasons), you might need a separate heater or opt for the “H” version.
Noise & ventilation: While generally well-built, proper placement with ventilation will help reduce heat-buildup around the unit and reduce perceived noise.
Overall Verdict
If what you want is reliable, long-term temperature stability, with well-engineered components and modern refrigerant technology, then the TECO TK Series is a solid investment. For serious hobbyists, reef keepers, or anyone who can’t tolerate large temperature swings, the improved efficiency, precision, and durability make these chillers worth the cost.
However, if your aquarium is small, ambient conditions mild, or budget tight, one of the smaller TECO models (or even a less premium brand) might suffice — as long as you size properly, ensure airflow & water flow, and maintain the unit well.
