Description
Osmosis Easy Line Professional 100 GPD - Aqua Medic
The Osmosis Easy Line Professional 100 GPD by Aqua Medic is a high-capacity, high-quality reverse osmosis (RO) system designed for aquarists, terrarium users, and homes needing very clean water. “100 GPD” refers to its nominal capacity — around 100 gallons per day, which corresponds roughly to 300 litres per day under standard conditions.
It can be used for the purification of tap water and also for the production of soft and desalted water for salt- and freshwater aquaria, for spraying in terraria and many other applications.
It is part of the Easy Line Professional series which includes models for various capacities (50, 100, 150, 200 GPD). This model is geared for users who need more output: e.g. larger aquariums, multiple tanks, or frequent water changes.
Here are the main features, components, and what the unit includes:
Pre-filtration
A sediment filter that removes particles larger than about 5 micrometres (µm).
An activated carbon prefilter that removes chlorine (and some other organic compounds) to protect the RO membrane. Chlorine can degrade many RO membranes, so this prefilter guards its longevity.
Membrane module
The system uses a thin-film composite (TFC) membrane (polyamide / polysulfone) of “latest generation”. TFC membranes offer good rejection of salts and contaminants.
The membrane, flow (or pressure) pipe, and a flow restrictor are included in the module. The flow restrictor helps set the waste water (concentrate) to treated water (permeate) ratio.
Performance / Quality Metrics
Output capacity: approximately 300 litres/day under normal conditions.
Salt rejection / TDS rejection: up to ~ 98% of dissolved salts and impurities when conditions are favourable.
Recovery ratio (waste water : purified water, or concentrate : permeate): about 3-4 : 1 (i.e. for each part of purified water, 3-4 parts are wasted) in standard operation.
Construction & Installation
Compact design: approximate dimensions 370 × 160 × 160 mm (length × width × height).
Mounting plate is included so the device can be fixed on a wall or placed on flat surface.
Integrated pressure gauge (manometer) to show inlet or system pressure. Useful for diagnosing performance, filter blocking, etc.
Tap & connection options
Comes with a chrome-plated tap extension that allows switching between filtered (osmosis) water and regular tap water. The extension can stay permanently attached.
Includes a universal adapter for tool-less fitting to standard household faucets. It suits faucets with 22 mm internal thread or 24 mm external thread.
Other features
A pressure switch, which allows automatic filling of a pressure tank (not included). This helps maintain a reserve of RO water ready when needed, increasing user convenience.
The system is also suitable for general household water treatment beyond aquaria: e.g. for removing chlorine, iron, etc.
Practical Use
Here are some things to keep in mind when using the Easy Line Professional 100:
Feed water conditions matter: The output and quality depend strongly on incoming water pressure and temperature. Higher pressure and warmer temperatures generally increase permeate production and improve membrane efficiency. If pressure is low or water is cold, the actual yield may be less.
Waste / concentrate flow: The system uses a flow-restrictor to enforce a waste:purified ratio of about 3-4 :1. That means for every litre of pure water you get, 3-4 litres of water are discarded. This is standard for non-water-saving RO units. If you are concerned about water usage, you may want to consider ways to capture or reuse the waste stream (if safe).
Maintenance:
Replace the sediment and carbon prefilters as needed: when they become clogged (sediment) or lose carbon capacity (e.g. after heavy chlorine exposure). This protects the membrane.
Keep an eye on pressure: if the pressure gauge shows lower feed pressure, or if flow decreases, it can indicate prefilter clogging or need for membrane replacement.
Monitor the quality of the output (TDS or conductivity) if you want very strict purity.
Space & plumbing needs: Although compact, you still need space for mounting, hoses, connections, and possibly a pressure tank if using that extension.
Pros
High output (~300 L/day) is good for large aquariums, multiple systems, or frequent water changes.
Good removal of contaminants (≈ 98% rejection) with modern TFC membrane.
Built-in conveniences: pressure gauge, tap extension, universal adapter, wall/floor mounting.
A robust, purpose-built system rather than DIY side systems.
What to Check
The waste water ratio is fairly high (3-4:1), meaning more water is used overall. Over time this can add up (cost, water usage).
It may underperform if feed water pressure is low or the water is very cold. In winter or in certain households, you may not reach the nominal 300 L/day.
Requires regular maintenance (filter changes, membrane replacement) — as with all RO systems.
No pressure tank included, so if you want instant supply or storage, you’ll need to add that separately.
Typical Applications
Marine / reef aquariums requiring very clean, low-TDS water.
Freshwater aquariums, especially soft water species or those sensitive to impurities.
Terrariums or setups needing pure misting or spraying water.
Household uses where high-quality water is needed (e.g. lab-like, small scale distilled quality minus scale etc.).
