Brine Shrimp Plus Flakes it is designed for use with both freshwater and marine fish — it’s marketed as a “universal” flake for tropical fish.
Ingredients of Brine Shrimp Plus Flakes
The formula includes a robust mix of marine and supplemental components such as:
Fish meal, dried fish protein digest
Wheat gluten, wheat flour, wheat starch (binders / energy sources)
Plankton
Brine shrimp (adult)
Fish oil
Salmon, mussels
Dried kelp, algae, spirulina
Yeast (brewer’s dried yeast)

Vitamins & minerals (vitamin A, D3, C, E, B-complex vitamins, biotin, folic acid, etc.)

Characteristics
Flake form: The product is in flake form (thin, flat pieces) which float or suspend, allowing fish across the water column to feed.
Texture / digestibility: The flakes are made with natural ingredients designed to digest easily, producing less waste and helping to keep aquarium water cleaner.
Water clarity: When used as directed, the flakes are claimed not to cloud the water.
Palatability: The inclusion of real brine shrimp and additional seafood ingredients plus attractants (e.g. garlic) enhances flavor appeal to fish.
Feeding
Feed 1 to 3 times a day, providing only as much as fish will consume in approximately five minutes.
Avoid overfeeding — uneaten flakes should be removed promptly to avoid deteriorating water quality.
It’s recommended to rotate or combine with other Ocean Nutrition “Formula Flake Foods” to ensure nutritional variety.
Suitable Species
Suitable for nearly all tropical fish, whether freshwater or marine, that accept flake foods.
Because of its marine ingredient content, it is particularly well-suited for marine community aquaria that also keep omnivorous fish.
Works well in reef, mixed species, community, and tropical setups as a staple or supplementary diet.
Advantages when using Brine Shrimp Plus Flakes
High protein & fat content compared to many standard flakes, giving better support for growth and energy demands.
Flavor & attraction: The brine shrimp base helps entice finicky eaters.
Digestibility & low waste: The design aims to reduce uneaten/unassimilated material, so aquarium water remains cleaner.
Versatility: Usable across both freshwater and marine systems, which reduces the need for separate foods.
Support for coloration & vitality: Use of pigments, vitamins, and marine elements helps maintain vibrant colors and general health.
No water clouding (if dosed properly): Helps maintain visual clarity in the aquarium.
Considerations
Storage & freshness: After opening, exposure to humidity, air, or heat can degrade the flakes (loss of vitamins, oxidation of fats). Use airtight storage.
Overfeeding risk: Excess flakes will degrade and contribute to ammonia/nitrate buildup, possibly fueling algae growth.
Competition among fish: In mixed or aggressive setups, dominant fish may take most flakes before slower or bottom-dwelling species can feed.
Partial diet only: Even though it is rich, no flake food typically covers every micronutrient need long term — rotating with frozen, live, or pellet foods is wise.
Floating nature: Flakes may not reach bottom feeders easily unless water movement or current pushes them downward.
Regional formula variation: As noted, the European product lists slightly different analytical values, which suggests formulations may vary by region — always check your package label.
